Evagoras Xydas, Cyprus
Cyprus University of Technology
WG1, WG3, WG5-member
Main Interests
1. Mechanism synthesis, analysis and design.
2. Modelling and analysis of dynamic systems; kinetics, kinematics, control.
3. Haptic-interface systems for rehabilitation.
4. Vibrotactile displays.
5. Mechanism-based systems for rehabilitation.
6. Discrete systems optimization (for queuing and control).
Projects
1. “Seventh Sense:” A project funded by the Cyprus Ministry of Commerce and the European Structural Funds. It aims in enhancing the understanding of the audiotactile phenomenon, where the auditory cortex is activated by touch, and also in the development of a related product.
2, “Minimally Actuated Fourbar Linkages for Upper Limb Rehabilitation:” The main aim of the project is the development of modern cost-effective rehabilitation mechanisms by employing advanced synthesis methods and in conjunction to transfer of knowledge from the field of Rehabilitation Robotics.
3. Other: Exoskeleton for assistance and rehabilitation of human motion, satellite attitude control (project HYST), 3D surface gearing, queuing optimization.
Main Achievements:
I. Organized and chaired symposiums and conference tracks in international conferences (Medicon, ASME IDETC) (2015, 2016).
2. Recipient of government and European funding for founding a startup (IREROBOT LTD) for the project “Seventh Sense” (2017).
3. Recipient of merit-based Chevening Scholarship for studies in the UK (2003).
