Lucilla Gatt is full professor of Private Law, Private Comparative Law and of New Technologies Law at the Faculty of Law of the University Suor Orsola Benincasa of Naples. She is the Director of the Research Centre of European Private Law (ReCEPL). She is Coordinator of the PhD Course in Legal Strategy for SMEs’ Development and Internationalization process (XXVIII cycle) and Co-Coordinator of the Law Profile in the PhD Course in “Humanities and Technologies” (XXX cycle). She is the Director of the advanced Master in Family, Minors and Inheritance Law. She is also member of SECOLA (Society of European Contract Law).
She has been Jean Monnet Professor of European Contract Law at the Second University of Naples; Fulbright Visiting Scholar at Chicago Law School and Research Visiting Scholar at Cambridge, Paris and Heidelberg Universities. She has been Erasmus Teacher at the University of Derby, UK. She holds a PhD in Private Law at the Bologna University (Alma Mater Studiorum) and a Law Degree with honors at the LUISS Guido Carli University of Rome.
She has obtained national and international grants and scholarships (Fulbright, DAAD, CNR and others). She has directed several national research projects on European Contract Law, ADR, banking, and insurance law. She has obtained Europa! DAAD’s grant and is member of the Project “European Integration and Harmonisation of Contract Law (EIHCL)” Jean Monnet 2007-2013 – WP3. a.3.
She edited four monographs on the subject of European Contract Law and is the author of several publications in Italian, English, French, German, which focus mainly on Trust Law, European Contract Law, European Consumer Law, Internet and New Technology Law, ADR, Arbitration, and Family law. She is deputy director of the law review Familia, and member of the editorial boards of several reviews.
She is member of the Academy of European Private Lawyers (and directs the Neapolitan Section) and of many other academies. She is also member of the Comparative and Foreign Law Center of the University of Milan.
She is an attorney qualified to represent clients before the Supreme Court in Italy and arbitrator at the Arbitral Chamber of the Chamber of Commerce of Naples.
She speaks Italian, English, French and German.
