During several years my research interest has been focused on the optimal design of mechanical systems and robotics. I have been the leader of several research projects (funded by Government agencies) for development of algorithms and implementing optimization techniques in the synthesis of linkages. This work is focused on obtaining the dimensions and kinematic structure of mechanisms and robots to fulfill with the design requirements. The optimization involves both kinematic and dynamic behavior. I have several publications in this field. 
Lately, my interest has been dedicated to the interaction of the mechanical systems with the human being taking into account ergonomics aspects. In this sense, I have worked with surgeons in the development of surgical tools for Minimally Invasive Surgery with ergonomic criteria. I have some papers and projects in this field and some patents too. Although, I am mechanical engineer, I am working closely with people from automatic control engineering who have also interest in this Cost Action. This collaboration allows implementing mechanical systems with different kind of sensors (infrared, motion capture, etc.) in the interaction human-machine. The work includes both theoretical (simulation) and the development of experimental tests. For all these reasons, I am interested in being part of the CA.
