From January 21-25 2019, the first winter school on Wearable Robots was held in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia. The winter school was organized within the framework of the COST action on Wearable Robots (CA16116). A total of 67 participants, among which 54 trainees, from 15 different countries gathered in this wonderful ski resort. They learnt about the latest developments in mechatronics for wearable systems, neuromechanics, ergonomics, interaction control and augmented sensory feedback, during lectures in the morning, enjoyed winter sport activities in the afternoon and worked on mini projects in the evening. During these mini projects, the trainees worked on various topics, like implementing novel control algorithms on an educational elbow exoskeleton, evaluating the effects of a ski exoskeleton and developing new interfaces for instrumented objects. The format of the winter school allowed for many interactions in an informal and friendly atmosphere amongst trainees and trainers, laying the foundation for future collaborations. Based on the success of this first winter school, the organizers are considering to make it a recurring event.
